Whether you love or hate Michael Moore, you’ve gotta give him credit for staying on top of things.
Ticked-off mama and anti-war activist
Cindy Sheehan, the guest of
Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), was arrested and removed from the U.S. Capitol before last night’s State of the Union for allegedly violating House rules. Sheehan was charged with “unlawful conduct,” while her companion, Beverly Young — wife of
Rep. C.W. “Bill”‘ Young (R-Fla.) — was ejected without being arrested.
Although these two obviously dangerous middle-aged women were removed from the chamber, Rex The Bomb-Sniffing Dog enjoyed a prime seat as the guest of first lady Laura Bush.
Sheehan (a.k.a. “Peace Mom”) was ejected for wearing a T-shirt that said “2,245 Dead. How many more?” Sheehan became a vehement anti-war activist after her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, was killed in action on April 4, 2004 in Sadr City, Iraq.
Young told a Florida newspaper last night that she wore a T-shirt saying “Support the Troops — Defending Our Freedom.” The congressman’s wife said a Capitol police officer told her “We consider that [T-shirt] a protest,” to which she responded with a succinct “Then you are an idiot.”
Capitol police promptly apologized today.
